Insulet held its first-ever Investor Day — and for the first time in a while, we have a clearer look at where Omnipod is headed next. Not just incremental updates, but a full roadmap showing how the platform will evolve across algorithms, pod design, connectivity, and ultimately into fully closed loop automation over the next 4+ years. For those of us who live and breathe diabetes tech, this was a big moment — not only because we finally know what Omnipod 6 will bring, but because we now have a glimpse at what Omnipod 7 and the future beyond it.
In this article, I break down the upgrades coming to Omnipod 5 in 2026, what Omnipod 6 will unlock for users and for Insulet as a platform, and where things are headed next with Omnipod 7 and beyond—including longer wear time, a new design, and fully closed loop automation. I also share where I think this roadmap hits, where it might lag behind competitors, and what excites me most as someone who’s used Omnipod for nearly four years and reviewed many other pumps.
