Dexcom has introduced the Dexcom Flex, a new continuous glucose monitor (CGM) designed for adults with type 2 diabetes who are not using intensive insulin therapy.
The device will initially launch in Germany, with the potential for broader European expansion in the future.
Dexcom Flex offers real-time, 24/7 glucose readings accessible via smartphone, smartwatch, or receiver, without routine fingersticks required. The system is aimed at people using basal insulin, oral diabetes medications, or GLP-1 receptor agonists.
The platform integrates several key features including glucose tracking with optional food and activity logging, customizable low glucose alerts, and personalized insights that connect glucose trends to diet, activity, and medication choices. The goal is to support earlier intervention in the type 2 diabetes journey, before patients need intensive insulin therapy.
Notably, this launch comes alongside Dexcom's unveiling of the Dexcom G8, signaling significant advancements in next-generation CGM technology.
