Dexcom G7 is designed to be simple: a one-piece, preloaded applicator makes setup fast and nearly foolproof. Before opening the package, check the expiry date and the sensor carton for damage. Clean, dry skin is essential — use an alcohol wipe and let the site air-dry completely so the adhesive bonds well.
Pick a flat site with minimal friction (upper arm is common). Avoid areas with heavy movement, seams, or clothing rub. Peel the backing, press the applicator firmly to the skin, and deploy the sensor in one smooth motion — it’s quick and mostly painless thanks to the compact design. The G7’s warm-up is short (about 30 minutes), so you’re back to seeing readings much sooner than older sensors.
To get the full 10 days of wear, prep and placement matter more than luck. Give the adhesive an hour before showering or sweating. For extra hold, consider an overpatch or a skin-adhesive product designed for CGMs. Rotate sites each session to protect skin integrity and reduce irritation over time.
The G7 combines convenience with solid performance: an integrated transmitter, factory calibration (no routine fingersticks), and accurate readings soon after warm-up. The smaller form factor also makes it less noticeable under clothing and more comfortable for daily life.
