The moment I unboxed the Medtronic InPen, I knew it was a step up from your average insulin pen. What immediately stood out was its intelligent design—Bluetooth-enabled, reusable for a year, and packed with features that help make insulin management simpler and more precise. It adds the “brains” of an insulin pump to your insulin pen. In my latest video, Madison Smith from Medtronic walks us through how InPen tracks your insulin delivery, suggests dosage based on your glucose readings, and pulls everything together in one app.

InPen connects with both the Guardian Connect, Simplera, and Dexcom G6/G7 CGMs, giving you real-time glucose data—though heads-up, there’s about a 3-hour delay when using Dexcom. That integration means you can see glucose trends alongside your dose history, helping you avoid stacking insulin or missing doses. Plus, the smart Bolus Calculator factors in your insulin-on-board (active insulin), carbs entered, and glucose levels to recommend the right dose—saving you mental math and guesswork.

What I appreciate most is how the InPen automatically logs every dose and gives timely reminders. It even monitors insulin temperature and stores the data in easily shareable reports, making it straightforward to work with your healthcare team. If you’re on multiple daily injections but want pump-like insights, this is as close as it gets.
