For people living with diabetes, keeping track of supplies plays an essential role in your day to day care. Stash is a new iOS app that helps manage the logistics by letting users scan barcodes on their pump supplies, sensors, insulin, and more to build a full inventory that tracks expiration dates, lot numbers, and remaining stock. Color-coded alerts shift from amber to red as stock runs low, and everything is opt-in so users are never bombarded with notifications.
Two features stand out in particular. The trip planner generates a visual chart showing how long each supply will last relative to a trip's duration. It will then produce a packing checklist to work through before leaving. The recall monitoring feature scans daily for new recall notices, alerting users if any lot numbers in their inventory are flagged.
Stash was built by Cory Zapatka, a video producer with type 1 diabetes. After a sleep deprived mixup nearly left him without infusion sets, he was inspired to build a better system. In this podcast he walks us through a full demo of the app, shares how he used Claude Code to build it as a non-coder, and talks about his vision for crowdsourced recall detection and device performance data down the road.
