The year 2025 is shaping up as a major milestone in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) — with major moves from Dexcom, Abbott, Medtronic, and Eversense already underway. Watch the video above for a full breakdown, and read on for the biggest headlines you need to know.

Dexcom is expanding its G7 with a newly FDA-cleared 15‑day sensor model and deepening its wellness reach with the recent integration between Stelo and Oura Ring, connecting glucose patterns to sleep, stress, activity, and metabolic health.

Abbott’s updated FreeStyle Libre app now supports all Libre sensors in one platform and makes smarter alerts standard. The Libre 3 Plus and Libre 2 Plus are gaining traction in closed-loop AID systems — and Abbott is advancing development of a continuous ketone sensor for earlier DKA detection.

Medtronic is stepping up with its Simplera Sync CGM system for the MiniMed 780G pump, now FDA approved and set to roll out in the US this year. Meanwhile, Medtronic is teaming up with Abbott to launch the Instinct CGM, a new sensor powered by Libre technology and designed for seamless integration with Medtronic pumps.

And Senseonics’ implantable CGM, the Eversense 365, now has hybrid closed-loop compatibility in the works with Sequel Med Tech’s twiist pump. The integration is expected near the end of 2025.

Curious how these advances stack up and what to expect next? I break it all down in my YouTube video above, where I share what excites me most about CGM rollouts in 2025 and how they’re shaping future diabetes tech.
