The FDA has cleared Beta Bionics' Mint, a patch pump built on a new reusable component that houses all electronics and a disposable pod. The reusable architecture never needs recharging. The system pairs with Dexcom G7, G7 15 Day, and Libre 3 Plus. Mint offers three days of wear time with a 12 hour grace period, a 200-unit insulin reservoir, and an IPX8 waterproof rating. It's controlled entirely from a smartphone, with a single on-body button triggering insertion via a 4.5mm steel needle. Full commercial launch in the U.S. is set for the first quarter of 2027.
Beta Bionics also introduced 3D Intelligence, its next-generation insulin dosing algorithm, now submitted to the FDA through a 510(k) application. Rather than a single dosing approach, it gives clinicians three selectable experiences:
Original - The algorithm already used in iLet.
Optimized - builds on that experience with additional real-world learnings.
Conservative - designed for a more measured response to high glucose.
The goal is for each patient's algorithm to better match their individual insulin needs. Pending FDA clearance, 3D Intelligence is expected to launch as iLet 3D by the end of 2026, with Mint 3D following at Mint's full launch in early 2027.
