Dexcom is preparing to launch a new “Trends” tab in the Dexcom G7 CGM app, giving users a central place to see logged foods, exercise, medications, and glucose data all in one view. We got to see a live demo of the new tab—here’s what we saw:

Until now, certain regions offered a photo-based food log where users could snap a picture of a meal and save it in the app. The new Trends tab goes even further. Sitting in the center of the app’s navigation, it adds two new views, Overview and Daily, that give users both a broad and granular look at how their habits affect glucose levels.

On the Overview screen, data can be viewed across three to 90 days, with key metrics like time in range, sensor usage, average glucose, and GMI front and center. A standout addition here is the “average day” graph (see below), which maps out glucose trends across a typical day. By showing where highs, lows, and steady periods tend to fall, the feature makes patterns easier to recognize at a glance and could help patients and care teams to make changes to treatment.

On the Daily screen, you can zoom into a single day and view glucose alongside logged meals, activity, medications and insulin events. In regions supporting smart insulin pen connectivity, logged doses could also appear automatically within the app.

Lifestyle data is included too. Steps, activity minutes, and active energy from Apple Health or Google Fit appear at the bottom of the tab, underscoring how factors beyond food and insulin contribute to glucose management.

Instead of being only a display for CGM readings, Dexcom is positioning the G7 app as a broader health app and decision-making tool. By layering glucose data with activity, medication, and food logs, the Trends tab shifts the app closer to an all-in-one dashboard for daily diabetes care.

Dexcom says the new tab is “coming soon” to the U.S., but no date has been announced. Watch the video below to see the Trends tab in action!

What feature are you most excited to try in the new Trends tab? Share your thoughts in the comments and we will keep tracking updates as Dexcom prepares for release.
