Dexcom has officially announced its next-generation continuous glucose monitor (CGM) at this year's investor day event. The Dexcom G8 is roughly half the size of the Dexcom G7, featuring a more square, rounded design with a slimmer profile. The form factor of the G8 is different than the G7, and it looks closer in size to the Freestyle Libre 3 Plus.
A major focus of the G8 is improved accuracy and a new self-adapting algorithm that has been in development for nearly two decades. This algorithm is designed to help reduce outlier readings. Dexcom also announced they’re developing a multianalyte sensor; a device that can measure different biological components starting with potassium.
