Abbott’s Freestyle Libre 3 Plus app feels like a solid step forward for users of the company’s latest CGM. The layout is clean, with your glucose, trend arrow, and a swipeable 12-hour graph front and center. Logging food, workouts, insulin, or notes is quick, and everything syncs to LibreView online for easy review with your care team.

The Insights tab is probably the most useful part of the whole experience. You can flip through daily summaries, scroll through highs and lows, and jump back up to 90 days just by tapping the date. You get time in range across multiple timeframes, hourly average glucose, daily patterns, low event breakdowns, and your GMI, which basically estimates your A1C from your CGM data. You can also set your own target ranges and the app instantly updates everything around those goals. It makes it much easier to figure out what’s actually happening with your glucose instead of guessing, and it also makes your conversations with your diabetes educator a whole lot more productive.

Alert settings are handled well too. Silent Mode lets you mute all audible alarms for up to six hours, which is great for movies or anywhere you need to keep things quiet. You still get vibration or watch alerts, so you do not feel cut off. You can change your low and high thresholds, decide if alerts should override Do Not Disturb, choose your tones, and toggle signal loss alerts depending on how often you run into Bluetooth issues. Starting a new sensor is straightforward. The warm up only begins once you scan the sensor with your phone, which makes the timing a bit easier to plan.

As for the sensor itself, the Libre 3 Plus delivers readings every minute, lasts 15 days, and hits a reported accuracy of 7.9% MARD. It is factory tuned, so there is no calibration step, and the applicator is compact and simple to use. During our testing it stayed on well without an overpatch through workouts, daily movement, and showers. We reviewed the Libre 3 Plus CGM and came away impressed with how dependable it felt throughout the full wear. It also connects with several automated insulin delivery systems, including the iLet, Twiist, and t:slim X2, which means users will have more flexibility as the AID landscape continues to open up. The Dexcom G7 is its closest competitor, and with Dexcom now offering a 15 day sensor as well, they are clearly working to stay just as competitive and forward-moving as Abbott.

We put together a full video walkthrough that shows exactly how the Libre 3 Plus app works in everyday use, including all the reports, alerts, and small touches. You can watch the complete demo in the video above.
