MiniMed has received CE Mark approval to pair its MiniMed 780G automated insulin delivery system with the Instinct sensor, made by Abbott, expanding sensor choice for people living with diabetes across Europe.

The 780G system automatically adjusts insulin delivery every five minutes based on real-time glucose data and can now work with three different continuous glucose monitors. Users already had access to the Guardian 4 and Simplera Sync sensors, both offering up to seven days of wear. The newly approved Instinct sensor extends that window to 15 days and is designed to be the world's smallest and thinnest integrated CGM form factor.

MiniMed plans to commercially launch the combined system in select European countries this summer and is showcasing the full system at the ATTD conference in Barcelona this week. The company also received CE Mark for the MiniMed Go Smart MDI system with the Instinct Go sensor, targeting those who manage diabetes with multiple daily injections.

Medtronic's Diabetes has officially spun off as MiniMed through a recently priced IPO, while the company continues investing in next-generation insulin pumps.
