The Omnipod 5 iPhone App Now Supports Dexcom G7

Dexcom's latest CGM is now supported on the Omnipod 5 iPhone App.

Insulet has officially added support for the Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to the Omnipod 5 iPhone app, and the update is available in the Apple App Store for all U.S. users.

This means users can now manage their insulin delivery and view real-time glucose data from Dexcom’s latest CGM directly within the Omnipod 5 app—no need for a separate controller. The integration simplifies diabetes management by allowing users to bolus, view glucose trends, change pods, and adjust settings, all from their iPhone.

The Omnipod 5 system is an automated insulin delivery (AID) platform that adjusts insulin every five minutes based on glucose readings. Pairing that with the G7’s faster warm-up time and smaller profile offers a more seamless experience with fewer devices and quicker setup.

The app still supports Dexcom G6 sensors, giving users added flexibility in their CGM choices. However, neither the Android nor iPhone version of the app currently supports Abbott’s Libre 2+ CGM, which remains exclusive to the dedicated Omnipod controller.

Since October, Android users have been able to use the Dexcom G7 with Omnipod 5 on a limited selection of supported devices. That said, the list of compatible Android phones remains fairly narrow, which may restrict access for many users.

Still no word on when the Omnipod 5 iPhone app will become available to those outside the US, but as soon as it’s announced, we will let you know here! Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow along on TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube.
