SugarPixel is a dedicated LED display that works over Wi-Fi to show your continuous glucose monitor (CGM) readings without having to constantly check your phone. About 3×7 inches in size, it is small enough to fit on a desk or nightstand but bright enough to see from across the room. Instead of digging through apps during a meeting or in the middle of the night, you can simply glance up and know your number.
Setup is all done through the companion smartphone app. You connect the device to Wi-Fi, log in with your existing CGM credentials, and it begins pulling readings from the cloud. SugarPixel supports major CGMs including both Dexcom G6 and Dexcom G7, and Freestlye Libre 2 (and 2 Plus) and FreeStyle Libre 3 (and 3 Plus). It also works with Medtronic CGMs and Eversense using a Nightscout account. Because it is a secondary display, it mirrors your data rather than replacing your primary CGM receiver.

SugarPixel uses color to make interpretation quick and intuitive. Red signals very low, yellow indicates low, green means in range, and purple or pink shows high. In the app, you can customize exactly where those ranges fall using simple sliders. Instead of analyzing every number and arrow, the color alone can often tell you what you need to know.
There are also multiple display styles to choose from. You can show your glucose number with a trend arrow and delta change, switch to a Big BG mode that makes the number extra large, or use fun emoji based screens for a more visual experience. There is even a dual user option that lets two people’s readings appear side by side, which is especially helpful for families managing diabetes together. The device receives over the air updates, so new features can be added without replacing the hardware.

Alerts are where SugarPixel really shines. This device has optional shrieking loud alerts which will most certainly wake you up at night! You can set custom high and low thresholds and choose how long alerts snooze. A physical button on top lets you quickly silence an alarm. Each unit includes a vibrating puck that can be placed under a pillow for stronger nighttime alerts, making it a helpful option for deep sleepers.

There is also a Nighttime Mode that dims the display down to just a few small lights, reducing brightness while still showing your status at a glance. This is one of our favorite features! You can also adjust day and night brightness settings and even set quiet hours.

Sidekick is an optional accessory that plugs into the SugarPixel CGM display to connect external USB devices like bed shakers, lamps, or LED strips. It acts as an on/off trigger for the USB connected device.
