Tandem Diabetes Care has received FDA clearance for the Android version of its Tandem Mobi mobile app, allowing users to manage their insulin pump directly from compatible Android smartphones. This clearance extends access to Android users across the United States, further connecting Tandem’s ecosystem of automated insulin delivery devices.
The Tandem Mobi system is the smallest durable automated insulin delivery pump available, powered by the company’s Control-IQ+ technology. The mobile app pairs securely with the pump and connects to the Tandem Source platform, giving users a way to view data, adjust settings, and manage insulin delivery directly from their personal device.
A limited release of the Android app is planned for December 2025, with full commercial availability expected in early 2026. Initial compatibility includes Google Pixel models 6 through 10 and Samsung Galaxy models S21 through S25. Tandem will release a complete compatibility list closer to launch.
The addition of Android support builds on several key updates from Tandem in recent months. These include the t:slim X2 integration with FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus CGM, the t:slim X2 clearance for use with Lyumjev insulin, and clearance of the 7-Day SteadiSet infusion set that is expected to arrive in 2026.
The company has also continued development of next-generation platforms such as the tubeless Tandem Mobi system and its upcoming Sigi patch pump, expanding options for people who prefer a smaller or screenless design.
With Android compatibility added, Tandem Mobi users will soon be able to operate their pump from both major smartphone platforms, giving more people access to the same app-based insulin management experience.
