Tandem Diabetes Care has announced that its Tandem Mobi insulin pump is now fully compatible with Android smartphones in the United States, a move that could bring the device to millions of people with diabetes who were previously locked out.
Until now, Mobi could only be controlled via compatible iPhone models. Unlike traditional pumps that include a dedicated controller, the Tandem Mobi is operated exclusively through a smartphone app. That meant Android users, a majority of smartphone owners worldwide, could not use it. Outside the United States, where Android dominates even more, the restriction closed the door on a large share of potential users. With Android support officially here, we expect Tandem Mobi to become available outside the U.S.
The Mobi app is now available on Google Play for Google Pixel 6 through 10 and Samsung Galaxy S21 through S25. The FDA cleared the Android version in November 2025, with a limited rollout in December before today's full launch.
Mobi is the world's smallest tubed automated insulin delivery system, running on Tandem's Control-IQ+ technology. Tandem also makes the t:slim X2 pump, a more traditional tubed pump running the same algorithm.
Looking ahead, Tandem's pipeline includes a tubeless version of the Mobi, a next-generation t:slim X3, and a tubeless-first pump called Sigi. Android support lays the groundwork for bringing Tandem systems to the widest possible audience.
