Dexcom has released a new Trends tab for Dexcom G7 users who update to app version 2.12.0, turning the center bottom icon into a dedicated Trends tab. The update brings key metrics into one place, including time in range (TIR), sensor usage, average glucose, GMI, and insulin data.

Dexcom G7 Trends Tab overview with 90-day time in range, sensor usage, average glucose, and GMI.

On the Overview screen, users can switch between 3 to 90-day ranges, with TIR, sensor usage, average glucose, and GMI front and center. This layout gives users a simple way to see how their numbers are trending over time and whether recent changes are having an effect.

Users can tap "Edit" on the Overview to reorder and toggle data tiles.

Users can also customize which metrics appear at the top by tapping Edit on the Overview screen. Time in range and sensor usage are fixed, but other tiles like average glucose, GMI, and insulin summary can be added, removed, and reordered based on personal priorities.

The Trends tab also surfaces insulin data from user-logged data and compatible smart insulin pens, allowing insulin information to appear alongside glucose metrics in the same scrollable view.

Some data tiles are notably missing from the Trends tab from the demo we saw at EASD. That demo included an Daily tab which presented more data on hourly glucose levels as well as logged medications, activity, and meals. Those elements are not present in the current release. We’ve reached out to Dexcom regarding timing for these features and will let you know what we find out.
