When Ali Dianaty, MiniMed’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, came on the Diabetech Podcast, I expected to talk mostly about MiniMed Flex—the company’s newly launched, tubed insulin pump.

And to be clear, we did talk about Flex—a lot. It is a major shift for MiniMed: 50% smaller than the 780G, sleeker, app-controlled, still holding 300 units of insulin, and part of a broader app ecosystem that MiniMed clearly sees as the foundation for its next chapter.

But then Ali pulled out something else.

Sitting on the table in front of him was MiniMed’s upcoming tubeless patch pump, MiniMed Fit. I genuinely did not expect to see this much of the device this early, and to learn so many details about it. I knew we would cover it, but getting a full demo and explanation, well that’s another story! And as someone who has used tubeless pumps for years and has been watching every company try to figure out this category, I was grinning the entire time.

This was not just a vague “future concept.” MiniMed showed me the form factor, the reusable components, the charger, and dug deep into how the system will work. Once I could let the conversation sink in, my brain was flooded with hopes for this system and expectations for how this could impact the entire pump industry….
