Sequel Med Tech, the manufacturer of the twiist AID System, announced updates to the twiist insiights app, giving caregivers and parents who follow along more visibility on glucose trends and alerts. Up until this point, pump users could share their glucose trends, insulin delivery, and pump status with followers, but only the user would receive alerts.
Now, the twiist insiights app can alert followers to a user’s low glucose (glucose falls below 70 mg/dL), urgent low glucose (glucose is 55 mg/dL or lower), high glucose (glucose rises above 250 mg/dL), pump alarms (insulin delivery has been suspended due to a pump alarm), and connection loss. Parents and caregivers can remotely monitor glucose levels and active insulin in real-time.

Users can toggle these options on or off and give followers specific permissions. The app syncs with the user’s smartphone or Apple Watch, so they can easily monitor important updates throughout the day. The app update also brings a new glucose graph to the app homescreen, making it easier to see the glucose levels and alarms at a glance.

These updates come shortly after Sequel Med Tech released a swath of upgrades for twiist last month including CGM alert snooze, a customizable sleep schedule with different high and low thresholds, and alert and alarm volume flexibility. Many of these new features, I’m told, were inspired by our review of the twiist pump - so, yay us!
twiist is approved for use for people with type 1 diabetes 6 years and older. It’s a tubed pump that connects with the Freestyle Libre 3 Plus continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and has recently been cleared to work with Eversense 365, an implantable CGM that lasts for one year. twiist has also already signed on as a partner with Abbot’s upcoming Libre Duo sensor, the world’s first dual ketone-glucose sensor.
