Insulet has expanded the availability of its Omnipod 5 automated insulin delivery system (AID) and Omnipod Discover platform to Spain, making it the 26th country where Omnipod products are available. The system is available for people 2 years and older with type 1 diabetes. Omnipod 5 is compatible with the Libre 3 Plus continuous glucose monitor in addition to the Dexcom G7 10 day and 15-day sensors.
Alongside the pump launch, the Omnipod Discover web-based platform gives users, caregivers, and healthcare providers an in-depth view of glucose trends and insulin delivery. Users can view data sets from 7, 14, 30, and 90 days to identify trends specific to a day of the week and even specific time of day.
The tubeless pump market is heating up with more options than ever before in development, including the MinMed Fit, tubeless Tandem Mobi, and Beta Bionics’s Mint. Insulet is also working on Omnipod 6 with an anticipated launch in 2027. The latest from Omnipod will include an updated algorithm, stronger bluetooth connectivity, and a single pod model that will allow pods to work across all CGM systems.
